Party Time

My gorgeous son is 10 this weekend...how did that happen I ask.  Yesterday we had some of his friends over.... they 'of a sorts' watched the original Michael Keaton Batman DVD, had a football tournament on the Wii, ate a ton of popcorn, Doritos's, demolished pizza's and icecream, drank copious amounts of fizzy drinks and made a lot and I mean a lot of noise!

Jamie said it was brilliant, so that's pretty perfect in my book!

May all your wishes come true!!!!

Saturday....ahem.... for one week only...... Sunday Shop News

Thanks so much for baring with me, whilst I was distracted......it's one day late, but I promise it was worth the wait, here's my picks from this weeks new arrivals...... First up are the utterly scrumptious Storybook Playtime fabrics by Windham.

It's no secret that I just adore small ditsy prints, I sometimes, just for a fleeting moment wonder if you can have too many, but then when a box full of brand new ones arrive, any doubts swiftly disappear........ I mean just look at those ducks!!!!

This week has not just been about fabric, we also had a delivery of beautiful Ebony and Ivory ribbons.  I just love the colours available in this range, they do classic stones and greys to perfection and then the most delicious ice cream shades.....

oh and did I mention that the quality is just outstanding......

and they're also fun, just look at the wonderful Airmail with love ribbon, isn't it just gorgeous!

Moving back to fabric, we managed to get hold of a bolt of Sidewalks Small Floral in Cream, shown here with Kona in Butter, pretty Pale Mint Lace and Wooden Daisy Buttons.

Whilst we're talking Kona Cottons, Kona Snow (a pale bone ivory) had just been restocked, plus we've added Butter (shown above), Cream (a gorgeous cream with beige tones) and White (which really is the whitest of whites).  All are available as Fat Quarters and Metreage, plus we offer them in our small Pre-cut sizes if you only need a little.  Find our full range of Kona's HERE.

HEALTH AND SAFETY WARNING

Look away now if you do not want to think about 'whispers' Christmas

are you ready (please do not throw anything at me!).......

Christmas fabrics have started to arrive.... in addition to the forever popular Snowflakes, Candy Striped and Polka Dots, we're also stocking some of the fabulous Michael Miller Holiday range...

Gingerbread Houses and Holiday Hostess are already listed and we have more due any day now, plus more Christmas fabrics and Ribbons due in the next few weeks...

Right, that's it for shop news, but on a sewing front, here's another little distraction that kept me busy the other night.........

Hexies.......and the best bit, playing with pretty layouts.  I'm going to be using these for a publication, so unfortunately, I can not show you any more for now, but fingers crossed it will come together exactly how I've envisaged it in my head.

Have a happy Sunday everyone!

Distracted

Gosh I am so sorry if you were tuning in for Saturday Shop News.....I've been totally distracted by this....

I happened across the pattern for this mini quilt whilst on Instagram the other night....isn't it gorgeous.  I tried to show some restraint as I have so many works in progress at the moment, but try as a might, I kept thinking about it....... so what's a girl supposed to do...buy it of course!!!!  I then for just a fleeting moment thought I would put it to one side.... but as I was cutting some Pam Kitty Picnic yesterday for an order I just knew it would be perfect..... what do you think?

I also used some Kona Snow, Kona Mocha and some Tilda Mini Red Spots.  I just need to decide whether to machine or hand quilt....

I'll be back tomorrow with 'for one week only' Sunday Shop News as I have some absolutely gorgeous new arrivals to share....it'll be worth the wait, pinky promise!  Have a great Saturday.

Saturday Shop News

What an exciting week it has been for new arrivals for the shop.  As promised, the rest of our Vintage Happy collection arrived, isn't it just scrumptious!!  There is the most amazing Union Jack quilt in this months Love Patchwork and Quilting magazine designed by Lynn Goldsworthy using some of these fabrics which is just stunning!

When the next box of fabrics arrived I'm sure you all heard the squeal.....gorgeous gorgeous fabrics from the Pam Kitty Picnic collection.  I just love them all, but I'm really drawn to the red text print... I'm already plotting how to incorporate this in to some quilty makes for my kitchen..watch this space.

As you know, I can not resist a sweet ditsy floral, so to combine one with mini stripes...does it get any better I ask...oh yes...indeedy when you get to choose from three colour combinations.  Sevenberry have come up tops again with this one design, I've already added to my ever growing to do list, a pretty summery top for Poppy in one of these...the question is which colour do I use.....
..... and of course with their lovely dots and stripes....yet more colours are now available.  I've never really used black a great deal in my sewing, but I am very taken with how stunning they look as a quilt binding..... Rita over at Red Pepper Quilts does this to perfection.

It's been another amazingly busy week for orders this week, thank you however as a result, I'm so sorry I haven't got the patchwork bag tote tutorial published, but I will do my very best this week.  I'm also dreadfully behind with my blog reading, but trying to catch up on an evening before I fall asleep.  To make life a little easier I finally treated myself to a mini Ipad...... oh my goodness, what have I been missing out on.  I've now joined Instagram....you can find me on there HERE...if you're on there, please do pop by and say hello.

Well that's it for this week... back soon!

Snippets of a rainbow.....

So far this week I've......

...... been stitching a rainbow (the Cheerio Mini quilt designed by Camille Roskelly from this months Love Patchwork and Quilting Magazine design )

.....playing with a rainbow...just because.....

..... unpicking a rainbow of Cub badges from an outgrown cub jumper......

......and stitching them back on a brand new one lots bigger, using a rainbow of threads......
.......and believing that dreams that you dare to dream really do come true...

Made with love.....

Just a super quick post to share Mum's little lap quilt, although I should really call it a knee quilt, it measures just 27" square, but it is just the right size for her and what she wanted it for.  I wanted it to be extra pretty so I added some cotton lace to the edge before sewing the binding.  Wouldn't something similar look lovely on a dolls quilt.  I can not say just how much I love the binding, diagonal stripes....sigh!!! Maybe on my next quilty project I should do something different to stripes, but then again......

I also wanted to let you know that I had not forgotten about my promise to share how I make my easy peasy little tote bags.  I rustled this one up over the weekend and I've taken lots of photo's, so as soon as I've got them in to some sort of order I'll publish a little tutorial........

I hope that you're having a great week, back soon!

A little gift and Saturday shop news...

Thanks so much for all your lovely and encouraging comments on my last post.  I know that I am very lucky...... not only am I blessed with the most fabulous family, I truly love my role as a mum, I also have a dream job!  Like many of you crafting comes after all of this, but it is equally a huge...massive part of my life.  I do not think there are many days that pass when I do not do something creative, whether that be embroidery, sketching, sewing or crochet....not wishing to sound selfish, it is something that I need to do for me.... it's my time and it's what keeps me happy and sane..... oh yes indeedy!

This week my precious crafting time has all been about this little quilt.  Mum mentioned that she would like a little lap quilt, something just big enough to place over her knees on an evening (and not smother Dad!!) ...... she suffers with arthritis and at the end of a busy day keeping her joints warm, alleviates some of the pain.  I had some  3" squares left from my Aunt Grace quilt and rather fortuitously we took delivery this week of a couple more bolts of fabrics from the Grandma's Garden collection...the two on the left.........

Obviously I could not resist (can you blame me!!) and snaffled some for my stash.... I set to cutting out some more 3" squares and pierced together a simple square block to which I added some low volume borders.  Then, whilst catching up on some recorded Endeavours...just as good as Morse and Lewis in my book.....I've been hand quilting.........

I've just about finished and then I've got plans for something a little special before I bind it...watch this space.......

Now moving on to Saturday Shop News..... we received a gorgeous green floral to go with our existing fabrics from the Country Girls collection .....I loved these fabrics before, but with that splash of green, the whole collection really comes alive...do you agree?

Talking of a splash of colour....we managed to get hold of some fabrics from the My Sunshine collection, by Riley Blake.  This collection really makes me smile....fabric can do that you know.... I love the bright and cheery colours when you see it all mixed together like this.........

and look how different they look when you cherry pick from the collection......cool and calm blues....

and fresh greens.......

and the multi coloured spots, flowers and stripes...... oh that stripe...now wouldn't that make the most fabulous quilt binding!

Our selection of Art Gallery fabrics are proving very popular and we added this pretty collection this week.  I know I've said it before, but these fabrics have the most beautiful feel and drape to them....sigh!!!!

Well that's my little round up of my favourite picks from this weeks new arrivals..... I hope that you love them as much as I do.  To finish here's this weeks mood board, inspired by a pretty Aquilegia that blossoms in my garden.....not long to wait now......

Have a fabulous weekend!
